About us

Diving into AI and Machine Learning at the Water's Edge.

Coding.Waterkant is an initiative by opencampus.sh and a central network for Artificial Intelligence enthusiasts across Schleswig-Holstein and beyond. Initially launched in 2019 with the Kiel.AI Meetup and a supporting blog, the initiative quickly expanded, drawing a diverse community of AI practitioners and innovators.

In 2024, we rebranded to unify the community and all events under the Coding.Waterkant umbrella, broadening our reach beyond Kiel to welcome participants from across Germany.

The highlight of our activities, since 2020, is the annual Coding.Waterkant Event. During our Hackathon coding enthusiasts from various backgrounds come together for an intensive week of project-focused work. We provide workshops, meals, social activities, and accommodations, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in their projects while connecting with a vibrant community.

Throughout the year, we also host regular meetups and offer courses through the opencampus.sh Machine Learning Degree, solidifying Coding.Waterkant as a cornerstone of the AI landscape in the region.
